Preventive conservation of the Debussy Path
Sylvie Rabussier, The Debussy Path, created in 1991 and restored in 2020, a 300-meter-long mosaic path, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Claude Debussy College
In 2020, the Yvelines Department commissioned Sylvie Rabussier to undertake a preventive conservation project for her artwork, Le Chemin Debussy (The Debussy Path), located at the Claude Debussy middle school in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
This artwork, conceived and created by the artist in 1991, was not being maintained, and the walls supporting the mosaic lacked foundations, causing inexorable damage. Therefore, after numerous discussions, Sylvie Rabussier secured the complete restoration of Le Chemin Debussy.
Despite this, the artwork is now partially altered because the access path along which it is located has been rerouted. For the time being, the department has installed large-format photographic prints of the parts of the artwork that are inaccessible and invisible to the public.
